Craig Johnson - Owner and Director
Craig Johnson founded Grip n Rip Junior Tennis at the Newport Beach Tennis Club in 2006. Craig had an impressive career as both a player and coach. He is a former nationally ranked junior and All-American at Pepperdine University, and went on the compete on the ATP Tour, achieving a singles ranking of 318 in the world and a doubles ranking of 281. Following his professional career, Craig coached for World Team Tennis before settling back into Southern California, where he started coaching in the LA area before moving to Orange County to start Grip n Rip Junior Tennis. Craig enjoys golf and spending time with his wife Michelle and their two boys, both who are exceptional athletes.
John-Michael Cham-A-Koon Director of Operations
John-Michael has been with Grip n Rip Junior Tennis since its inception in 2006. In additional to being an outstanding tennis player and coach, John-Michael covers all the administrative details, and implements systems and processes to assure the entire Grip n Rip program runs smoothly for staff, students and parents.
John Craig - Player Development Manager
John is a 40 year veteran of the tennis industry, having been a college player, teacher, presenter and tennis director. John also has owned and operated several junior programs, and brings his experience to the courts to help Grip n Rip players on their journey to becoming excellent tennis players.
Scott Van Son - Program Manager - Huntington Beach
Scott has been with Grip n Rip Tennis since 2006. He is diligent in his pursuit of being the best coach and mentor he can be. Scott brings knowledge, experience and creativity to the program, and is a big part of the success of Grip n Rip Junior Tennis.
